The Southwest Arewa Community is steadily emerging as a formidable political force in Nigerian politics, and their latest milestone has everyone talking. On the sidelines of a grand traditional installation ceremony in historic Oyo town, something remarkable happened that has supercharged their campaign for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
I’m talking about the heartfelt endorsement from Hon. Nasiru Ja’oji, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Citizenship and Leadership. This wasn’t just a formal nod—it was a genuine moment of connection, a political “love at first sight” if you will, born out of shared vision and admiration for grassroots hustle.
The event on Sunday, December 21, 2025, was already buzzing with high-profile figures. The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Owoade, was conferring prestigious titles: Senator Abdulaziz Yari as Obaloyin of Yorubaland and President Tinubu’s son, Barrister Seyi Tinubu, as Okanlomo of Yorubaland. Dignitaries like former APC National Chairman Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and several senators were in attendance. But amid the pomp and pageantry, a strategic alliance was quietly forged that could reshape electoral dynamics in the Southwest.
Enter the Southwest Arewa Community Renewed Hope Agenda for Asiwaju 2027—better known as SWAC 4 ABAT AGAIN 2027. This vibrant group, led by the dynamic Director-General Alhaji Shehu Usman Sampam (affectionately called Sampam), has set an audacious goal: mobilizing at least one million votes from the Arewa (Northern) communities settled across the Southwest for President Tinubu’s landslide victory in 2027.
Hon. Ja’oji, a youthful and influential presidential aide with a powerful pro-Tinubu network, didn’t just endorse them—he fell head over heels for their energy. He praised their robust grassroots mobilization, their unwavering loyalty, and Sampam’s visionary leadership. In his words (paraphrased from the event), he saw in SWAC a reflection of the Renewed Hope Agenda’s core values: economic renewal, national unity, and sustainable development.
The symbolism was unforgettable. Ja’oji and the group’s leaders proudly donned customised SWAC 4 ABAT AGAIN 2027 campaign shirts, posing for photos that screamed solidarity. It was a visual pledge: together, they’re committed to delivering massive bloc votes for the All Progressives Congress (APC) come 2027.
This endorsement didn’t come out of nowhere. It’s the latest in a string of heavyweight backings for SWAC. Just days earlier, renowned Hausa musician Dauda Kahutu Rarara threw his support behind the group at the same Oyo ceremony sidelines, hailing their focus on inclusive development. Earlier still, Lagos State Chief of Staff Tayo Akinmade Ayinde lauded their self-funded efforts and longstanding Yoruba-Arewa alliance.
What makes this partnership so potent? The Southwest Arewa community has long been a reliable political bloc, known for integrity and keeping their word. Through ongoing programs on PVC registration, voter education, and highlighting the Tinubu administration’s achievements, SWAC is fostering inter-regional harmony while expressing gratitude for the President’s bold, inclusive reforms.
As we inch closer to 2027, this Oyo moment signals something bigger: growing nationwide confidence in President Tinubu’s leadership. The Southwest Arewa aren’t just gaining ground—they’re paving a highway to electoral success, translating deep loyalty into decisive votes.
In a season of hope and renewal, stories like this remind us why politics can still inspire. The presidential aide “fell in love” in Oyo because he saw passion, purpose, and potential. And with alliances like this, the Renewed Hope Agenda looks set to deliver even greater triumphs ahead.
What do you think—will SWAC hit their one-million-vote target? The momentum says yes!
